Introducing Sendless: Secure File Transfer That Runs in Your Own AWS Account
Published on 31.10.2026

Sending a large file to a customer or partner usually means uploading it to someone else's cloud. Sendless works the other way around: it's a file transfer portal you deploy into your own AWS account in about five minutes. You send files with expiring, password-protected links, collect files from people who have no account, and your files stay in your own S3 bucket.
Sendless comes in two editions: a free, open-source Community edition, and Sendless Pro for organizations that need single sign-on, malware scanning and their own branding, available on AWS Marketplace.
What Sendless does
Sendless covers both directions of file exchange that most teams need every week:
- Send files with a link that expires after a set time, a number of opens, or both. Add a password, and repeated wrong guesses lock the link.
- Request files from anyone. You create an upload link, and customers or partners drop their files straight into your account without signing up for anything.
- Share large files. Uploads go directly to Amazon S3 in resumable parts, up to 5 TB per file, so a dropped connection doesn't mean starting over.
- Know what happened. Sendless can email the link for you and notify you when it's downloaded. Every transfer has its own activity log: who opened it, which file, from which IP address and country.
Recipients don't need an account. Senders sign in with their Sendless account, optionally with two-factor authentication, or with your company login on Pro.
Serverless from top to bottom
Sendless is built only from managed AWS services: Amazon CloudFront, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Cognito. There are no servers or containers to patch or scale, and when nobody is sending files, it costs close to nothing.
File contents never pass through Lambda. Browsers upload to and download from S3 directly with short-lived presigned URLs, and the API can only be reached through your own CloudFront distribution. Expired files are deleted every 15 minutes, with an S3 lifecycle rule as a hard upper limit, so nothing lingers after a link has expired.
Your files stay in your account
With a SaaS file-sharing service, your files sit on the vendor's servers. With Sendless, they're stored in a private, encrypted S3 bucket in the AWS Region you choose. Files, metadata and logs stay in that Region. Sendless doesn't phone home, and even the Pro license check runs offline, so we never see your files or your transfers.
That makes the conversation with your compliance team short: the data lives in your AWS account, under your IAM policies, in the Region your policy requires.
Deploy in about five minutes
Sendless is a single CloudFormation template that works in any commercial AWS Region, with no dependency on us-east-1 and no Lambda@Edge. Choose a Region and enter an administrator email. About five minutes later, the administrator receives a temporary password by email and can sign in. A custom domain, email sending, self sign-up and malware scanning are optional settings.
To remove Sendless, delete the stack. The buckets are emptied first, so nothing is left behind.
Community and Pro
The Community edition is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. It includes everything described above, plus user management with invitations, self sign-up by email domain, an English and German interface, and light and dark themes.
Sendless Pro adds what larger organizations need:
- Single sign-on with SAML or OIDC, for example Microsoft Entra ID, Okta or Google
- Malware scanning with Amazon GuardDuty: downloads stay blocked until a file is clean
- An audit log for the whole installation, with CSV export
- Policies such as mandatory passwords, a maximum link lifetime, blocked file types and allowed recipient domains
- Branding with your own name, logo, colors, welcome and footer texts
Pro costs a flat USD 1,399 per year on AWS Marketplace, for unlimited users and any number of installations. It's billed on your AWS invoice, and you receive your license key by email as soon as you complete the registration. Paste it under Admin → License to turn on the Pro features.
